The Stages of Change were developed by James O. Prochaska , John C. Norcross , and Carlo C. DiClemente. Since their development, they have been studied extensively. Those findings show that use of the SOCs improves the likelihood of successful change.*
The five Stages of Change are Awareness (Pre-Contemplation), Contemplation, Preparation, Action, and Maintenance. SelfChanger walks everyone through the SOC roadmap. Successful change begins by building Awareness of your current situation. Contemplation is when you think about what change could do for you, considering your personal values and goals. Preparation is the process of making plans. In Action, you’re making observable and measurable changes in your lifestyle. This process doesn’t always happen in order, sometimes revisiting an earlier stage is just what you need to make true progress. Once your new behaviors become your way of life, you’ve reached Maintenance!
